DID YOU KNOW?
This event is being held to raise awareness of the issues surrounding delivery of quality education for gifted children in Calgary. ABC (Calgary) is a branch of Alberta Action for Bright Children (AABC). The focus of this society is to identify barriers in delivery of quality gifted education and advise on strategies to overcome them. The association is responsible for advocating for continuous improvement and implementation of best practice in gifted education through lobbying with Alberta Education and other key stakeholders.
FORUM FORMAT:
The session on March 20th will involve a brief overview of goals of the society. Immediately following we will break out into smaller focus groups to document parents current issues, as well as suggestions for improvement in gifted education.
This initiative is critical to the continuous improvement of gifted education in the city of Calgary. With the information collected we can evaluate if parents feel that their child's educational needs are being met.
This information can offer Alberta Education important feedback from parents on the importance of quality gifted education and the current experiences of parents. At this time there is no other collective approach to provide parents’ perspectives to the decision makers. Please try to attend so that we can effectively promote the continuance of gifted education.
